Introductions? Interjections!

Oi! Hey there! Attention!

This style blog is sort of ill-conceived (I'm a college student with two majors, two jobs, and too many freelancing gigs to count), so it's only fitting that I begin with a rather ill-conceived outfit.

I woke up this morning, home from university for winter break, and realized that my clothes were all still in the wash. D'oh! I ventured into my sister's room to rummage around for something to wear. She's four years younger than me, four inches taller, and a whole lot better at dressing herself. Maybe she should run this blog.

Anyway, I found this lovely burgundy lace dress and a big chunky knit to put on top of it, and paired it with my favorite floral tights (well-loved and falling apart, predictably) and brown boots.

Unfortunately, I don't do the ensemble justice because 1) I was struggling with my self-timer (this blogging endeavor will be a learning experience, I am sure); 2) I always look high as a kite in photos (ditto first parenthetical comment); 3) I also got a new haircut this week that looks like a baby mullet. Gah!

But, neither laundry days nor self-timer blunders nor inattentive hairdressers will foil my plans. So here I am, world. Ready to blog about grammar and style and rhetorical theory and feminism and whatever else tickles my fancy. Hello!

Test Post: Gala

This is a test post!

I wore this vintage dress, with elbow-length sleeves and a pleated circle skirt, to an awards gala in October. It was $25 and required no alterations, although I did have to wear some "structured undergarments" to maintain that classic 50s wiggle in my step. The dapper man in the green is my friend Dennis.

Dress: Bianchi vintage, purchased through The Clothing Chick on eBay
